A Beginning

The first post is always the hardest post (well in my opinion). Not being a natural 'blogger' I wasn't too sure what I should talk about. After far too much overthinking and procrastination, I came to the conclusion that I was giving myself a headache (and the first term has only just started). I decided to just begin typing what I was thinking and here we are...  


This year I have started the Professional Practice, Arts and Creative Industries BA Honours. After graduating school, I originally wanted to start the course straight away but was advised to give myself a bit of time to adjust to the working environment. A year and a half later here I am, finally opening my mind to further education. 



I'm looking forward to this course and everything it has to offer. Being able to both study and work at the same time, no matter where I am in the world offers me so many opportunities, for which I am very grateful. Let's hope that the next 18 months go according to plan.

'Collaboration'

After reading Adesola's blog post on collaboration, it inspired me to write about my own experiences within my practice. In the post, Adesola linked a video to Dr. Shelle VanEtten de Sanchez, a poet talking about her experience in collaboration. She mentioned a metaphor which allowed me to relate and understand the importance of co-operation and what you can gain from it. Personal ethics

Looking further into ethical considerations when delving into a research project, I have noticed that having the inquiry based around my professional practice means I have my own personal ethics. I would like to keep this investigation as neutral as possible and with that in mind, these personal ethics must not control the course of the project. Although my opinion still matters, the point of this inquiry is to hear different opinions and to understand different points of view. Once I aquire this varying information, it will then give me a broader understanding on the topic at hand which is; 'what does the end of a ballet career mean to the dancer?' Although the answer to the question will vary from person to person, I will still recieve the information required to understand how the majority may feel and whether my own personal opinion realates.
